Sports and Recreation

Rolling hills, chains of sparkling lakes and rivers, orchards, gardens and preserved natural woodlands, and of course our "coast" on spectacular Lake Michigan make for four seasons, and a wonderful variety, of sports and recreational activities to choose from. We take a small-town pride in the big-time sports to be found in Michigan's Great Southwest.

So, take your choice: will it be a family trip to a local zoo or orchard, hiking-and-biking on one of the trails of a natural preserve, swimming at one of our hundreds of beaches, camping in acres of national parks, or an exciting game of local or collegiate athletics? There's always golf, a local passion evidenced by three private and 17 public courses. Don't forget our winter sports: skiing, ice-skating, and snowmobiling, just to mention a few. We even have a couple of world-class spas to help you unwind. We're confident you'll find a host of recreational opportunities.

You'll find that local athletics are quite a passion in our area, as well. Our region boasts a rich tradition of high school athletics from state championship football teams to award winning basketball teams. And there are any number of T-ball, soccer, pee-wee football, and little league clubs for the small fries.
